The same file run through Lightroom and also DPP (with no editing to either) - the difference is significant. I have to say I am starting to lose faith with Lightroom. Remember they interpret a camera and make an Adobe profile for it. Remember the 5Ds(r)? Well there was a lot of problems with crushed blacks thanks for Adobe. It is important to remember the software you use may not be the best starting point as it clearly shows here.

The lightroom one looks crushed and contrasty compared to the DPP one, which has nice subtle tones.

I suppose Adobe have to cover all bases for all cameras and handle colour data from a wide range of cameras and colour spaces.
There sure are a lot more colour spaces and gamuts around these days with all the fancy new displays, it's hard to keep up.
