Spectacular Scotland video

Some of the beautiful locations around Scotland that I have visited recently.

I have included some background info and the location details.

Thanks to Pete Wilkie for sorting out a wee intro at the start ūüôā

The first two beach scenes were at Luskentyre beach, Isle of Harris.
The weather at the start of May was wonderful, reaching 24 degrees for a couple of days in succession.
When the weather is like that, there’s no where in the world I would rather be.

The next two clips were taken at Rannoch Moor, whilst were were driving on the way up to the Isle of Skye.
It was a beautiful snow covered scene, with little pools of water reflecting the blue skies above.
I didn’t want to leave, but I only had one charged battery for my drone and I had to move on.

The 5th clip was a wee time-lapse, taken at the Kelpies in Falkirk.
I lined it up so that the sun shone¬†through one of the horse sculpture’s eyes.

The 6th clip was taken at the Kylesku bridge, on our way up to Durness in Sutherland.
The NW500 is my favourite drive in Scotland.

The 7th clip shows some of the Luskentyre estuary, which changes colour and shape as the tide comes in and out.
It truly is mesmerising to watch the changing colours there.

The 8th and 9th clips were at Traigh Mheilein, which involves a 40 minute walk from Husinis, but it’s pure bliss there and well worth the walk around the steep and rocky hill side.

The 10th clip is over a huge sandy area near Northton, looking towards Scarisa beach.
The yellow sands always grab my attention there.

It’s not normally that calm at Loch Cul Dromannan, to the North Ease of Ullapool, but it was on that cold January morning.

Time-lapse of some mist rolling around Loch Duich.

One of the Luskentyre ponies, I think her name is¬†“Skye”, it was strange to see her on her own, as she normally stays next to Toby, the white pony.

East beach, on Berneray, North Uist, looking across to West Harris

Waves rolling into Scarista beach, it is one of the biggest and best beaches anywhere.

Kilt Rock and Mealt waterfall, on the Isle of Skye.

Eilean Donan castle and a snow covered Isle of Skye in the distance.

Snowy trees and their reflections at Loch Lubnaig, near Callander.

Moon and misty trees, near Druimindarroch, whilst driving back from Mallaig.
It looked like a scene from a horror film, but it was all gone in a few minutes.

The moon, venus and mars setting over Edinburgh castle.
It was raining on my way up Arthur’s seat, but it cleared up and I got a nice view of the three celestial bodies so close together.

Northern lights, as viewed at a wind farm, near Taynuilt.
It was spooky sitting 1500 feet up a hill around midnight, with creaking wind turbines and the aurora display.

Seilebost, Isle of Harris, looking towards Luskentyre and those mesmerising colours in the water channels.

A winter sunset at the Callanish standing stones, Isle of Lewis.

A wee boat floating in calm water, near Ballachullish and Glencoe.
It was totally surreal filming it, it looks computer generated, but it was so calm and scenic.

Seilebost dunes, looking over towards Taransay and Luskentyre.

Frozen white trees and water at Lochan an Tairbh, next to the A9, between Kingussie and Newtonmore.
If you watch the video on a 4K screen, you might see the ice crystals sparkling in the sunshine !
