Sutherland mountains

Mist clinging onto the mountains

Sutherland mountains
Misty mountains, looking towards Elphin township

I was up in Sutherland and Assynt last week to try and get some longest day shots, but as usual, the Scottish weather turned the day before the summer solstice.
I woke up at 5am, with the sound of the rain, but as it passed through, there were some lovely clingy clouds over the mountain and hill tops.

I wasn't fully awake as I ventured out and as I hadn't tucked my T-shirt into my jeans, the midges were able to get a good bite at my tummy area.

This was looking East towards a small township called Elphin, in the Sutherland region.

Here's a sunset shot from the night before, looking through a mountain valley towards the sun setting over the NW coast.
