Scotland never ceases to impress when it comes to beautiful rugged landscapes.
In no particular order, here are ten of my favourite photogenic locations in the North West of Scotland.
It can get busy around the spots in the summer months, so please don't park in awkward places and always be respectful to those who stay there.
#1 - Luskentyre beach, Harris
Your eyes are not deceiving you, this isn't the Caribbean, it's Scotland at it's best.
The weather is this good very often, but when it is, there's nowhere else I'd rather be.
#2 - Buachaille Etive Mor
Glencoe can get very busy during the summer months, but that's because it is one of the main roads in the West of Scotland and the scenery is so dramatic.
This photo was taken as the sun was going down, I just had to stop and take a photo of this winter sunset.
#3 Glenfinnan monument
The Harry Potter train tends to get all the attention, just a few hundred yards behind this location, but the view down the glen and of the monument is worth a look.
The Glenfinnan monument was lit up and the moon was starting to set above the mountains.
#4 The Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye tends to be very busy during the summer months, so I tend to avoid it then, but it's like being in a place that time forgot.
This photo was taken near The Kyle of Lochalsh, looking West to the Skye Bridge and the Cuillin mountains.
#5 The white sands of Morar
It's always well worth a trip to the White Sands of Morar.
The Isles of Rum and Eigg and Canna in the distance make a great backdrop.
#6 Eilan Donan Castle
If you are heading up the West Coast, it's a great place to stop to take a photo of this iconic Scottish location.
The snowy mountains on the Isle of Skye are in the distance in this shot.
#7 Glen Garry Viewpoint
It can be a bit tricky to get an uninterrupted view here, due to all the trees, but it worth walking up the hill a bit to get a better view.
I got lucky with some mist and fog in this shot.
#8 Sango Sands, Durness
The clouds were covering 99% of the sky this early morning, but there was a clear gap to the Northeast, which was enough for this gorgeous sunrise.
#9 Callanish Standing Stones
Located on the West side of the Isle of Lewis.
A magnificent collection of standing stones, they have a unique and magical atmosphere all of their own.
There are also several beaches a few miles up the road that are well worth a visit.
#10 St Kilda
This remote archipelago is 40 miles west of the Outer Hebrides but is well worth the 3.5-hour boat ride each way.
It can be awkward to get ashore there due to the Atlantic weather, but it's an adventure worth taking.
The weather wasn't great when we went there, but we managed to get ashore, but I will always cherish the passage through the sea stacks, the dramatic view was jaw dropping.
